From head of a sales office to full-stack engineer
I spent about eleven years in sales and management before I wrote code for a living. Here is what that background still does for my work.
Business first, code second
Before software, I worked in sales and management in Ukraine, and until 2022 I was Head of the Representative Office at Optys Ukraine. I also took the company's e-commerce website from the first concept to launch. That project is where I realised I enjoyed building the thing more than selling it.
I trained in web design at Projector Institute, moved into development, and since 2022 I have worked as a full-stack developer at eValue.cz, mostly with React, Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript and React Native.
What carried over
- Ask who the product is for before asking how to build it.
- Explain trade-offs in plain language, to people who do not read code.
- Treat a deadline as a design constraint, not a surprise.
- Ship something small, then let real feedback decide what is next.
Software is a way of serving people better. The code is the means.
Where I am heading
Today I build custom AI systems: LLM integrations, RAG chatbots and agents that work from a company's own data. I write the code myself and use AI as a subject to engineer, not as a shortcut around understanding. The business years help me pick problems worth automating.
